superfosfato kollektiv
Overview
Independent design collective born in Portogruaro (Venice) that aims at sharing a new aesthetic taste, producing works including music, visual arts, and architectural content together with live streaming and podcast sessions.
how it started
It was summer 2020 in a small countryside town called Portogruaro, the place where I grew up and built childhood friends. Summer there is distinguished for being very arid, humid, stale. The city is not very vibrant with life and opportunities, on the contrary, in the recent years it had been withering, due to administration and it being a small countryside place, where youngsters study in the local high schools, then leave to pursue their dreams. It kind of feels like a cage, a boring limbo, especially to those who have a creative mind, or interests that are not reflected by the city fabric.
Feeling the need to "do something" about it, feeling that my creativity was withering together with the city, I met with my long time friends, who shared the same malaise and we settled down the basis of a new collective, that could and would ignite a spark within all the young people of the surroundings who needed a medium to express themselves creatively and therefore break the cage of countryside staleness. A manifesto was written, where the mission and direction were stated.
the manifesto
"we create to fullfill our taste for the sublime of industrial aesthetics, abandoned places, techno-electronic music.
superfosfato kollektiv is a community, a space for creatives that aims to give birth to a new aesthetic movement."
The name "SUPERFOSFATO" refers to a fertilizer that is commonly used in agricolture, which was also produced in an important factory based in Portogruaro, called Perfosfati, from which we take the name, and on which we based our identity, as its abandoned monumental building always characterised the territory and therefore represented a perfect visual and metaphoric "temple" were a rising creative young, underground movement could be based in.
The strong interests in music, architecture and visual arts allowed us to delineate a specific taste that then characterised the work of the collective: a drive towards abandoned brutal architectures that inspired the spontaneous birth and flow of underground techno-electronic music, and the use of industrial visual aesthetics in the digital works and branding of the group.
Superfosfato Kollektiv proposed itself as a fertile ground, a hub of creativity, where creative people can gather, and express their art, whatever it is.
production
As already anticipated, the members of the collective produced different electronic music tracks, as well as organizing a DJ Set, called Ignition (see Youtube Video), and curating a Spotify Techno playlist.
The main platform where works are showed off is the Instagram page, where different arts are displayed. Illustration, graphic and motion design artefacts were produced, either to promote the movement or just to show off skills and artistic concepts. Photography is also explored, as well as technical drawings and data visualization.
The main activities conduced by the collective were:
Weekly Twitch Livestreams, conducted by five members and involving the community.
"The SUPERFOSFATO Podcast" on Spotify
